Iraq - The Space Between

Artland, Manchester‘ s newest independent gallery, hosted a major exhibition of war photography from Iraq by award winning New York Times photographer Christoph Bangert (Review). This was the first time that Bangert‘s collection, which has received great critical acclaim, has been shown in the UK. Bangert is one of the very few Western photographers to stay the distance in Iraq during some of its bloodiest and most terrifying periods. The result is a series of extraordinary and shocking images.

Fragile State - Art from Kosova

’Fragile State’ (catalogue, Guardian review, Metro review), curated by James Walmsley (Director, Artland Gallery), was the first ever British showing of contemporary Kosovar art at Stockport Art Gallery in 2007.

Michael Slusakowicz: Paradise Lost

Artland Gallery was very proud to present the first solo exhibition by Michael Slusakowicz in October 2009.

Many thanks to Louis Loizou for making these three films and for his continued support of Artland Gallery.
